About Michael D. Hebert

Michael D. Hebert, co-managing member of Becker & Hebert, LLC, is a graduate of Louisiana State University (B.S. 1982) and Louisiana State University Law School (J.D. 1985).  He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.  For over thirty years, Mr. Hebert’s practice has provided a wide array of litigation, consulting, and transactional services in the areas of business and commercial law, employment law, construction law, public utility and telecommunications law, municipal government law, land use law, and governmental relations. During his career, he counts among his clients multinational corporations, electric utility companies, hospitals, oil service companies, information technology companies, telecommunications and video providers, and over 50 Louisiana local governments.  Among his achievements as a litigator is the successful defense in the Louisiana Supreme Court of a $125,000,000 bond issue of the City of Lafayette to finance its pioneering fiber optic telecommunications system. Mr. Hebert was the City-Parish Attorney for Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government from 2011-2015, and he was the last City Attorney of the City of Lafayette prior to the consolidation of the City and Parish of Lafayette in 1996.  He has been involved as counsel for various parties, including as lead counsel, in many of significant public-private partnerships in the area in recent years, both as a draftsman and negotiator and as an advocate.  He is a frequent lecturer and writer on topics within his areas of practice.
